I am college professor and was attending a seminar with other professors and the presenter said "Everyone has a myspace account, don't they" Why would a college professor need a myspace account?

The only reason I could see a need for the Professor to have a myspace account is for potential networking or sharing knowledge with other professors (group section). In other words, keeping in touch with other professors, such as students use it to keep in touch with other students. One possible reason could be that each student selects the school (HS or college) when creating their account and at any time you can click on your school and see the listing of students.

I could see more bad than good from a professors stand-point. If you get one student with an agenda, it could effect your reputation if the students ganged up on you.

Who knows, in the future if it continues to grow, a site such as myspace could be utilized in a way that online colleges are, but I surely hope it doesn't come to that.

Even I have one. Good way to communicate with my grandkids, and a few special friends.
