How can tiny little things get into your shoe and feel like they are ten times their size?

I had a little pebble in my shoe, when I dumped it out, I was suspecting a rock, but it was hardly bigger then a grain of sand lol.

because your feet are very sensitive to touch, just like hands. they have more nerve endings. and yes, I know what you mean....kinda like when you have a sore or a bump in your mouth and it feels like the size of your entire head.
