I know I'm not the only female that goes through this almost every month. What is the deal? I'm 23years old and these cramps started a few years ago. It's so bad that I can't get up. Sometimes I can't go to work b/c the cramps are so bad. And YES I have gone to the doctors and all they give me is 800mg motrin, which sometimes doesn't do crap and I don't want to live off of 800mg every month. Or is that okay? lol.... Please help!! Thanks!

Sounds like endometriosis...I have had it for most of my life. Have you been on birth control pills? This helped me early on. I had a laparoscopy a few years back and have felt much better.

A good suggestion is watch your diet during the month; sometimes the types of food you eat can cause the heavier flow. Remember that your monthy menstraul cycle is a way of the female body ridding itself of toxins etc.. You may want to make sure that you are always drinking plenty of fluids (water) not caffine cause that dehydrates your body. You may have heard this and it truly does work, try eating a bananna at the onset of cramps. Cramps are caused by lack of hydration (water) and potassium (banannas are high in these). You would be truly suprised at just doing these two simple things the differance you will see in your cramps and cycle itself. However, some women commonly have a heavier flow. If you are concerned there may be some other medical causes such as cysts, endometreois (probably spelled that wrong), hpv etc... you may want to have it checked out by your gyn. Good luck and hope these help!

B6 is the go.....or any other over-the-counter PMS related stuff. Vitamin B calms the nerves/anger. Panadol cures the pain. You can cramp all you like and be angry as you please but if you take the above...it kicks it out just fine..especially if you use it as soon as you get into peed off (without much reason) mode.

I dont know what motrin is but it sounds like panadol or paracetomol......or any other headache type pill (from the advert I just found). Just a clue....get the cheapest pain reliever tablet/capsule that works for you PLUS the cheapest B6 vitamins you can find (they do work).

And another hint...buy a vibrator. The cramps comes from the inner womb lining trying to emit the bloody interior of the womb. Orgasm helps to eliminate those via impulses...the squeezing in and out muscular action helps squeeze out the clots. If you ever had a baby you would know that anything enlarging the uterus hurts badly.

So if you are in pain...orgasm as much as you can (helps with childbirth too)...if you have no male that likes sex during menses or you are lacking in fantasy and hand action....get a vibrator to massage you inside and out...it WILL help a great deal. If you can translate pain into horny feelings....you are well on your way to feeling good about it.

i would ask for a pain pill inplace of a anitinflamation but the motrin will help with the inflamation of that area!

I get wicked cramps too. what you could try is some teas like a moon cycle tea or something with raspberry leaf. Ive also tried using a menstrual cup instead of tampons if that is what you use. Ive tried The Keeper (about $30) but I wouldnt recommend it if you are still a virgin (I had to send mine back). Heating pads do a good job as well as plenty of magnesium and vitamin C in your diet. Exercise has also been known to reduce cramps. Its good to avoid alcohol, sodas and sugary foods and drinks during your period.

I think thats all Ive got... Good luck with the cramps!

Go see a gynecologist regarding the issues, problems like endometriosis can cause extremely painful menstruation. If the nature of your period has changes since the cramps have arrive, IE more clotting, lighter or heavier flow then it is very important to see a doctor. Also if you cramps are lasting more than a couple days.

It also depends upon your paint threshold as well, some women can handle normal menstrual pain, so me can. Pain is subjective. However for you own piece of mind, talk it over with your gynecologist.

Try advil... I use it because my cramps are killer.. leaving me bed-ridden... Advil normally does the trick..
Motrin sucks...
If advil doesn't work... try a heating pad ... Use a towel so you don't burn your skin... Heating pads ease the pain really well...
Just lay with it for an hour or so... I'm sure you will feel better....
And if you have a male doctor... he doesn't know... get a girls input :) We are smarter...
ultrasound may be good too because you could have a cyst on your ovaries... my sister had killer cramps and it was due to a cyst

girl the more active you get while your on your periodv the less cramps you get, its ok if you drink motrin every month, well for some reason the doctor is prescribing it to you, dont you think, just take heating pads, pills, and vitamins and dont drink heavy things like soda and all, it can increase the cramping, try water alot...hope i helped.

I have all those things too, and so much more. I have a horrible time with my cycles. IT took 2 Ob/Gyns and a lot of tests including an exploratory laproscope to reveal my problem I have severe endometriosis (stage 4). And it is hard to diagnose, but you might want to ask your doc to run some tests and find out.

Get an ultrasound of your uterus, my daughter and my sister have mis-shapen uterus', and it causes them to have the worst periods ever, including being bed-ridden, vomiting, you name it. the doctor had my daughter go on birth control pills and that helped a lot. she no longer has those horrible periods.
