I could barely stand to read Order. Harry was so down trodden and he couldn't get a break. After that, it was still bad, but not near as bad.

I'm just finishing up book four, and so far book two is the worst. The Chamber of Secrets is essentially The Sorcerer's Stone in a different room. The Sorting Hat has a sword in it? C'mon! I understand that magic is magical, but don't treat the reader like an idiot. Rowling went to great lengths to explain how the Sorting Hat worked in book 1. Then, she tosses that out the window and suddenly the hat can do whatever she feels like.
You can't set up the rules of a fantasy world and then break them. Rowling does this far too often, and I never really get into her world completely. The movies (even though they are fairly mediocre) do a better job of immersing the viewer than Rowling does at immersing her readers. I admit that she writes Quidditch and Tournament scenes well, but she cannot end a book to save her life.

OOTP was the longest and mattered the least.
I did enjoy the quiddich with Ron, and the Fred and George's pranks were great.
However, you really did not learn very much in the book. It was mostly filler.Umbridge was also such a loathsome character that it was hard to enjoy at times.
I do think it was a good contrast book for Harry. This was the book where harry was most independent and angry. i think Independence and anger are the things that will be his downfall in Deathly Hallows. Friendship, forgiveness, and love will be the conquering forces.

I agree with you - Order of the Phoenix is definitely the worst. The story is convoluted, it doesn't really link up properly, the style is very repetitive, the characters aren't so clear, and I don't think the detail is so imaginative as some of the others.
Ranking from best to worst, I'd say the HP books go 3, 1, 4, 6, 2, 5.

I don't think any book was the worst as a whole.
They all have some bits and pieces which make a boring read. On the whole, the series has been pretty good...dunno about the last book though ?!?!

DEFINITELY, ORDER OF THE PHOENIX
i m disappointed with rowling's storytelling way.
the prophecy which is the basis of the deathly hallows (book 7) and which is also the pivotal point in the book 5 has not been given enuf importance

I HATED halfblood prince, cuz it had really nothing important to the story in it, cuz who really cared that snape was a half blood, the whole book was pretty much about searching for the halfbood prince and the horcruxes, nothing more than the same thing being repeated, I love the other ones but that one i can live without...
