A one nighter is NOT making love, nor can it ever be. That is just for physical pleasure with someone you find too irristible...pure lust. In order to make love to someone you must having strong feelings of love for them. The type of love you that if they gained 20 pounds you'd still be in love with them. They make you want to spend the rest of your life with them no matter if they are hot/sticky/sweaty mowing the grass look or in their finest clothes taking you out to your favorite place to eat. When you have plain old sex it's not as fulfilling b/c there is no emotional bond there, no commitments. When you make love there is a strong emotional connection as well as a commitment to one another that ensures trust, security and love. You hold a person your making love to very differently than a person your just having sex with. The differences are awsome! The most enjoyable is making love! Sex is so much more than physical when your IN LOVE!

They are both the same 'act'.

Sex is the physical action of intercourse.

Making love is the emotional reward from having sex with somebody you love.

it depends from which perspective you view the sex act. are you having sex with someone you"love" or having sex with someone you don't.
actually i think it's the moral issue for some people, that you don't have sex unless you love the other person or are married to them. "make love" is just another euphemism for sex usually, and love does not always have anything to do with it.
