It all depends on what method she is looking at. This site gives a good explanation of the two most common methods. Very easy to understand and an excellent comparative method.

She is early in her pregnancy- however, her baby's heart has been beating for about 2 weeks. She will probably have the suction aspiration abortion or a D&E. The procedure will obviously take the life of her child- but what she will endure can be lifelong. First of all he physical- the dr will open her cervix with cone shaped rods- and then depending on the procedure- the dr will either suction out the fetus or scrape the wall of the uterus to remove it. First of all, this is done sight unseen, just be feel. She could get infections, excessive bleeding, pain can last for days, chances are she could miscarry later when she does what to be pregnant. Or not become preg. and breast cancer risk is increased. She will never forget the day that she had her abortion. I counsel teens and women who are pregnant and considering abortion or have had abortions. Please email me if you want more info. Please encourage your best friend to call CARENET and find a pregnancy help clinic in your area. It is very important to get all the info you can. God bless you for wanting to support your friend.

I have never had one but I have friends and family who have. It can be hard to deal with the lost. My advise would be to make sure she goes to a great clinic and not some back alley place because they are cheaper. I just heard on the news this morning about a woman trying to sue the abortion clinic because they didn't perform a abortion on her and now she has to raise a child. Plus people die from this type of thing. So please do some research on the clinics as well as if this is really what she wants. Good Luck

well.......it is not a good thing to go through although some must do it......you will never forget that day as long as you live and you will quesiton if you did the most horrible sin in the world for the rest of your life...........it is demoralizing to some extent and it is all on the woman......think real hard before you make that decision.....even if you dont' want the baby there is adoption, and you can even give the baby to a hospital.....there really are so many choices....abortion is ugly and painful for the rest of your life

If she is gonna do it then she needs to get to it. Abortion isnt the best thing to do but in some circumstances I do believe its the right thing to do. The horrible thing about is waiting to long and letting the baby keep growing. I know they will give her a shot that makes her feel out of it. Then they hoist her legs up and do the abortion. Ive heard its slight pain and discomfort. For the most part your outta it. Guilt does play a big part but if she honestly believes abortion is the right thing then she will be fine. Good luck to her.

shes fairly early so she will have a little discomfort and will need atleast 3 days off of her feet. other then that nothing much, just make sure shes doing it for the right reasons and wont have any regrets later.
alittle info
They do not let the boyfriend in during the procedure
after she done theyll give her two prescriptions one for pain and one to slow down and stop the bleeding
then after about a week a follow up examine to make sure everythings fine.

At that stage, it's very simple. She'll be put to sleep and the operation will be performed with a vacuum device. She may experience some abdominal cramping during the following 24 hours, and perhaps a bit of bloody discharge - she'll have to wear a sanitary pad for a couple days. After that, nothing.

for god sake u people.... u make me sick with all your guilt trips.. just answer the damm question properly or not at all.... most of u CLEARLY do not know the answer, u are all just guessing, so LAY OFF!
With an early abortion at 5 weeks she won't feel anything as they will knock her out. she will come round and be a little sore. She should not move anything heavy for a few days. She will be fine. She may NOT suffer a lifetime of guilt and dammnation, as many people here would have you believe, if she is sure about her decision and why she is doing it. I had one at 6 weeks when i was 20 and Ive NEVER felt guilty, NEVER suffered emotionally and CAN have more kids!!!
Good luck to her and ignore all the freaks on here they have no idea what they are talking about.
