As you know it's hormones. Get your hubby to take the other kids out now and then and run yourself a nice warm bath with lavender and thyme bubble bath, light a few candles and prepare yourself a nice fruit cocktail. Put some music on and lie in the bath and let yourself relax. I feel moody all the time and I know that I am doing my partners head in but I just get out his way and try to relax. I find having time for just me makes a big difference also. So remember take time out for yourself and let dad take a mor hands on role until you feel more settled. Congratulations and good luck with your pregnancy.

Hi. Im 11 weeks pregnant and have the same problem. My kids are even jokingly calling me the exorcist (they are 9 and 11). I feel like a complete bit*h at times then the next minute im laughing and the next im crying. Im quitting work in 2 weeks thank god because Ive been snapping on people and have a very short temper all the sudden. Im going to start taking a local prenatal yoga class (its cheap!) and hopefully that will help calm me down. Theres not a whole lot you can do. Just remind your hubby that this is not YOU and that it will change after the baby is born. I wish you the best of luck and congrats :)

I got a book off Amazon with some great relaxation techniques in and a CD. Just 5 minute a day but then you can use the techniques when you are feeling a bit down to distract yourself and get yourself on track. Another pregnant lady recommended it to me. It is called ' Hypnobirthing' by Marie Mongan. Nothing about hynosis so it is a misleading title but very practical.

(I have just read the very sad mail close to yours from the husband of the lady who has just lost her baby. It made me cry but also how lucky I am / we are that this has not happened to us. Every time you feel crabby just think of this couple and you should like like you have won the lottery and really have a lot of be grateful and happy about).

Don't rule out talking to a doctor or nurse about it too. Good luck.

Good luck,
Anna

According to my darling partner and 5 year old son, I have been hell to live with for the last 31 weeks - I'm 31 weeks pregnant!!

Hormones can really mess up the way you feel, behave, your emotions etc.. For some people, it often goes away along with other 1st trimester symptoms such as morning sickness etc... For others, like me, you may feel like it all along the way!

I hope not, for your sake. Although, I've found that the best way to deal with it, is when you start to feel moody and agitated, go for a walk, or do something else you really enjoy - alone!

Good luck and congrats!!

I've been moody the whole way thru my pregnancy so far, i found that writing down what i think is making me moody helps as a release, also a nice bubble bath and a good cry and a hug from my partner.
Hope you find something that works for you :)
And congratulations on your pregnancy !

I'm 21 weeks pregnant for the first time, and last night was my first "moody" spat. I'm usually emotional, so I've been thrilled with how balanced I've been so far... no crying or hysterical rants.

I think the best way to deal with it is to address it with your family. Let them know you're acknowledging your mood swings and let them know what they can do to help avoid it or how to help you deal with it. Above all, be humorous!

I liked the input from the lady whose kids have dubbed her "The Exorcist", and even she can see the humor in that!

I just excused my attitude last night with, "I'm sorry, I know I was being nasty... I think I had low blood sugar because as soon as I ate, I felt better." To which hubby responded, "Okay, but you DO see what I put up with, right?"

;) Poor guy... he thinks I'm bad, but at least I have hormones to blame my mood swings on... what's his excuse? LOL

I think what helps me the most is a bit of time either on my own or just with my husband. Babysitters & creches are high on my list of recommendations!

I also find gentle exercise such as walking (especially when there are blue skies) and swimming REALLY bring a smile to my face. Exercise makes your body feel so much better and somehow this really does help me emotionally too.

I hope you find a way to cope with this. It's not easy, is it.

Lots of bubble baths and chamomile tea. Thats what got me through it. A big step in this is admitting that you're a little crabby, maybe you can stop yourself a little when you feel it coming on. Good Luck!
