I mean really, have you ever seen a cat fish?

Thank you Lucas. Fly fishing has always seemed like an art to me. Even unscientifically, catfish fascinate me. And there are channel cats that weigh more than I do in the river nearby!

Catching fish is not the only attraction of fishing, although it is a definite perk. I feel very much at peace when I am waist deep in a river. No matter how stressed out I am in daily life, I am always relaxed by the sites and sounds of being in nature. I relate it to other's enjoyment of meditating or attending church.
There is also a certain art to fishing, especially fly-fishing, that allows a certain amount of pride when you can do it well.
Just my feeling on it.

BTW- Catfish are very interesting animals when viewed scientifically; they are very primitive creatures. When you clean a catfish- rub you finger down it's spine and you will see the nerves reacting even after the fish is dead.

Katy, you are fishing for answers again, I see. My compliments on a delightful question. Around here, sport fishing is all the rage. Our golf course, the second most enjoyed sport of our community, is conveniently located nearby. I have seen many people complete their collections of golf clubs by fishing nearby. It's a little known 'delayed catch and release' technique. The two are often exercised in tandem. Frustrated golfer tosses his clubs into the lake, unsuspecting fisherman retrieves said golf clubs and decides to pick up golfing as a secondary sport. It is a cyclical event that keeps perpetuating it's own interest.
Fish? There is no room for fish in our lake.

No kidding. My step-father loves to fish, and goes fishing all the time. As a kid, personally I thought it was boring and a lot of work. Not to mention the heat, and the sunburns that followed by sitting in an uncomfortable chair on a boat all day long. Anyhoo, 'til this day, he still goes out fishing.

I have to tackle many issues with my crappie job at the office.
Sometimes its reel easy to reach my limit. I have to have some way to deal with my angler. Instead of casting barbs at my co-workers (Rod and Midge) I prefer the lure of the great outdoors.

Theres nothing better the going to my favorite hole with my rod.

I think it's the trolling and being able to throw your bait around.
