Dilitaion and Curettage.

This surgery is used when a woman has had a miscarriage to remove the remaining fetal tissue and contents of the uterus.

This is done in a hospital under general anesteisa. The doctor dilates the cervix (dilitaion) and uses a small spoon or vacuum called a curette (curettage) to remove the contents of the uterus.

Some times after the surgery there is bleeding, but the woman usually is better with in a week. I have had this surgery twice.
