Stay away from HCl (muratic acid) if you want to keep your pluming intact. For hard water deposits you want phosphoric acid. You can get it in a product called Lime Away.

Or if you can’t find that another less effective alternative is soaking the pipe in Coca-Cola. I like to simmer it and put a dash of vinegar in there too. Coke has a small amount of phosphoric acid in it. Coke will dissolve hard water deposits, although slower than the Lime Away.

CaCO3 can be dissolved by acids.

CaCO3 + 2H+ ----> Ca+2 + H2O + CO2

Therefore you use any acid to remove those CaCO3 deposits. Try first ordinary vinegar since it's milder and may prevent corroding steel pipes also. If it doesnt work, try to use a stronger acid like HCl/muriatic acid. But dilute it with water.

There are two main desalting technologies: distillation and reverse osmosis. Distillation uses heating, evaporation and condensation to remove salt from water. Reverse Osmosis pushes water through very small, semi-permeable membranes which don't allow salt through ("Taking Salt out of Seawater").
