I was thinking of staining my deck this weekend on long island temp is going to reach 55 degrees is this a good temp to stain and and could someone recommend a good staing to use ,the deck is 4 years old and i never applyed stain to it before i was told to weather it so this is wmy i wated this long , the deck is still in great condition the floor is starting to brown so i figure this is an ideal time to stain ,,,,any tips and advise is really appreciated.

try THOMPSON'S water seal. this product will tell you what range of temps are good for applications

You will be pretty much "pushing" on the temperatures of most stains. Usually the recommended temp is 55 or above. The other problem is if the deck is wet from dew. It should be dry to accept the stain properly. It will probably be recommended that the deck be pressure washed or otherwise cleaned before applying the stain. Purchase stain from a paint dealer. This will insure getting a lasting product. You will probably want to seal it after appying the stain.

Thompson's is the best product that I know of for staining and sealing wood decks. Follow directions on the can for ideal application temperatures. Hope this helps. Have a nice day and good luck with your deck.
