I attended La Salle and it is really just an OK college. I spent around $32 grand a year for it and it is definitely not worth that much. They charge Ivy League prices for average education. Some of the profs are really good (communications dept being quite good), but some of them just plain stink (I had one who barely spoke English and was trying to teach us stuff that we learned in middle school).
The financial aid dept is horribly lazy, so if you need any sort of extra financial aid from them, don't expect to get it very quickly - if at all.
The neighborhood is terrible. I had numerous friends get mugged at gunpoint ON CAMPUS.
It is a private Catholic University, so they have some weird rules for their residence halls (I was also a resident assistant, so I had to deal with enforcing those rules).
So in my opinion, they can be a decent school if you can afford them right up front and can deal with some of their crap. They used to be very education centered, but they have become extremely financially centered over the past couple of years. Many alumni that I have spoken to have said that they refuse to give any money to La Salle and some have even said that they would love to do anything in their power to destroy La Salle's reputation. I am not one of them, I'm just giving you my honest opinion from experience.
If you are looking for a private Catholic University in the Philadelphia area, go for St. Joseph's.

Private school witha nice campus surrounded by a bad neighborhood in Philadelphia. Absolutely NOT Ivy League in quality, nowhere near as selective or competitive.
Similar, but not quite as good as Villanova or St. Joseph's, two other catholic colleges in Philadelphia. Costs run over $30,000 per year (not that that's unusual any more).

I live near LaSalle and know that it is a good school. It is a private Catholic college, Christian Brothers I believe. I'm not sure of the cost, but since it is private, it will be quite pricey. Check their website as tuition changes annually.
Also, consider calling their admissions office nad asking them to send you information.

Yup La Salle is a good school, especially in Engineering. It is a private school, one of the top three unis in the Phil. The location is nice for people who like hanging out, because its very near Makati. It is a convenient school to go to since many residencies are erected there. There are diverse groups of people there, so you won't be left out, you wont have the pressure of spending cash just to prove your worth in the community. The tuition fee is like 60k per sem. What do you mean by ivey-league? Is it an ivy league type of school? Hell no! It is in a developing country.

People tell me it's a good college. It's a famous school, you know. My friends told me their cousins who study there say it's a bit expensive, about $500 maybe. It's actually a very popular private school.

It's both. It doesn't matter...but in general, people tend to go for somebody in their own environment.
