closing the windows?

And you have to "defragment" really good your thoughts the next day? (Usually about what a fool you acted like the previous evening and what you did and said and what other people did and said )

Why is that? Or why is that not a good analogy?

I don't think the two are comparable.

Thanks for asking!

Human beings have emotions, computers don't. So, I don't think an analogy between the two works very well. People usually drink heavily to allow themselves to 'let go' more easily, and/or to give themselves confidence, or simply to escape from a very difficult problem in their lives.

'De-fragmenting' is simply re-sorting data so that it can be accessed more quickly and efficiently in future. After a good booze up, you are trying to work out whether you can recall the data at all, and/or whether you did something outrageous whilst you were out of full control. So, it is more about retrieving as many memories as possible, and then deciding whether we need to apologise to anyone.

You feeling guilt, shame, remorse with a touch of paranoia thrown in for good measure? Alcohol is a depressant, drink heavily and you will be depressed the next day. Try not drinking so much if you can't control the amount your drinking then you probably have a drink problem.

I would compare drinking heavily to shutting your brain down without closing your mouth..... at least when I drink anyway.

It does all come back in bits, usually at the strangest times (like chatting with your boss!)

I find that the less I remember the better behaved I have been!
