Come on, without question they were talking about how many people they had slept with. That is why John Smith says, he has "been around the block a few times." And then makes the "it is not your first time" joke to Mrs. Smith, another sexual reference joke. Then she says her number is SO high because some were two at a time. Big deal in killing, Mr. Smith drops 4 at the poker game no sweat. So why is two at a time a big deal in anything other than sex.

there on page 92, you learn that the original conversation was to take place in a coffee shop and that John asks, "how many? How many before me?" And as you read the script and notice the tension it is obvious he is a man upset that his woman has been with 312 men before him. Why else would he really care.

I think they're talking about how many people they've killed, but obviously it's a play on the conversation a couple might usually be having about how many they've slept with.
