AIM lets you send files, as does sending somthing as an attachment in an email. You can also just give them a CD or (GASP they still exist?) a floppy disk with the information burned or stored (respectivly).

The most common way is to send it to them as an "attachment" in an e-mail. Check your e-mail program and you should find an option that allows you to "attach" a file. When you sent the e-mail, a copy of the file will be sent with it.
A second alternative is to use a file sharing website. They allow you to transfer a file up to a secure website. You then sent the web address and password for the file to your friend. They go to the site and download the file(s) to the computer. If the file is large, or you have mutliple files, this is faster than an attachment. Do a Google search for "online file storage" or "file sharing" and you should find several free sites that allow such file sharing.

There are two way of file sharing.
1. Via local network
2. Via the internet
In the local network ur network administrator will create a shared folder in ur computer. There u can copy and paste ur file or folder which u need to share.
Via the internet u can upload a file to a website where others can download it or e-mail it.
U can share any types of files such as vedeo,mp3,word, webpage or anything.
There are sites where u can upload files.
Eg.:
www.megauploads.com
www.yutube.com

If you are in the same (LAN) network, you can just right click on the folder or file and choose sharing tab. There you will find the option to make the file share. Just ckeck that and apply.

It depends on the size of the file. You can always email it, put it on a flash drive and give them the drive. There are also online hosting services such as megaupload.com. Good luck and hope this helps!

if one of you have xp pro or xp media center edition you can remote desktop into those operating systems and make sure to check disk drives under local resources tab in remote desktop options. That way you can transfer files back and forth
