It does sound like a lot of money. I'm guessing that this is an older masonry consrtuction building with plaster walls and little or no insulation in the exterior walls. I am also guessing that your apartment is on the corner of the building where there are two or more exterior walls. I'll bet that the windows are old steel casement (roll out with a crank) or double hung single pane windows. There might be storm windows but I'm betting there aren't. Are you on the top floor? If so, there is probably little or no ceiling insulation. In effect, I'm betting that there is a lot of heat loss in your apartment due to some or all of these factors.

Do you have any kind of central heat such as steam radiators which are common in your area? If not, it sounds like you have electric baseboard or some other type of electrical heating system. In any event, this type of electric resistance heat is terribly expensive. Even the use of portable electric heaters used to supplement central heating is expensive. On top of that, you live in an area where electric utility rates are high compared to many other parts of the country. Of the other things you mentioned, only running the dryer on a daily basis sounds unusual. Electric dryers consume a lot of electricity. So does the dishwasher dry cycle. You might want to skip the dry cycle, open the door when the dishes are done washing, pull out the drawers, and let them air dry.

Since you live in an apartment, there is not much you can do beyond being as conservative as possible. You might want to talk to your utility company about "even billing". This will keep you from seeing those huge bills in the winter. It won't save you any money because you will be paying more in the summer than you do presently, but it will be easier to budget.

Good luck with your situation.

Check your bill to see how much eletricity is consumed. My rate is $0.058 per Kilowatt hour. If I use about 2500 Kw thats alot for my appartment. about 1000 sq feet.

You can still insulate your windows more. If you pull off the trim at your windows you can spray foam aroun them. You can buy spray foam in cans for cheap at any hardware store.

First things first. Check your bill. It also sounds like someone may be stealing power from you.

Check your elec pannel to see what all of the breakers control.

I artwork for the interior reach application the place I stay and that they deliver out a prior due observe one or 2 weeks after the invoice is previous due. You do have a grace era whether it is in many situations in basic terms some days. plenty do no longer close off till after the 2d invoice replaced into due. whether the place I artwork, they gained't close you off in case you owe below $one hundred. on your case we are speaking approximately 6 days so i do no longer think of it particularly is going to be a extensive deal and don't think of you would be decrease. you could in simple terms call them nevertheless and enable them to be attentive to. they are able to continuously placed a be conscious on your account. some even have fee arrangements. additionally remember they could have a prior due fee to boot.
