Right now, I am doing a debate about nuclear power.
And so far, I've heard a lot of positives and negatives about nuclear power and I can't seem to decide whether I should be pro or anti.
Which one should I be? Why?
Can you support your answer with logical explanations?

100% PRO nuclear power. This is the best answer in the future to reduce our use of petroleum. Look at France, they power most of their country with nuclear power.

The pluses are many for Nuclear power. It is the perfect "green" fuel, as it will keep us from using coal, oil, or natural gas to power our homes. This will reduce the price on the above so they can be used by the average American to heat their homes. The price of said fuels, as well as gasoline, would likely go down, since supply would be greater.
Nuclear would also be a great power source to fuel the production of ethanol or biodiesel. Right now it takes 1 Btu of petroleum to produce 1.2 Btu's of Ethanol. Does this makes sense? Hardly. Right now it would be better to just use the 1 Btu of petroleum. But with nuclear power, we would not be using petroleum to produce these fuels, so they would be more practical.

Liberals still can't seem to understand the practicality of Nuclear power, as they have all been brainwashed into thinking that Nuclear power is "evil", but if it is well regulated it can be a constant and reliable energy source to supplement the USA.

You need to decide for yourself what it is you believe. I for one use to be anti-nuclear because I listened to others ranting about how evil it is. However, once I actually took the time to study the issue and really learn about nuclear power and waste, I completely changed my mind. I would suggest that you do the same. If you are interested in the subject, do some research and don't concentrate on just the anti-nuclear or pro-nuclear literature, read both sides and decide for yourself.

However, here is some issues that you may want to consider:

Nuclear Power is a relatively clean power source: A nuclear power plant has virtually no emissions (there are some emissions but compared to a fossil fuel plant they are nothing). I have read some literature that argues that this is not accurate because there are emissions related to the producing of nuclear fuel. This is probably true; however, this is also true about the producing of solar panels, wind turbines, and hydroelectric plants.

Nuclear power produces toxic waste: No one can argue that nuclear power produces some extremely nasty radioactive waste and that this waste can stay very hazardous for hundreds of thousands of years. If it is not properly handled, it has the potential of causing a lot of harm. However, all of this waste is accounted for and managed according to strict guidlines. Additionally, science continues to make a lot of advances in the treatment of radioactive waste and, with the current work that is going on, I for one am confident that this waste will not be as toxic in the future.

One minor accident can have catatrophic results: Just look at Chernobyl. Even now, 20 years after the accident occurred, we are still trying to figure out exactly how to deal with that mess. I can't think of any other type of power source that has this type of diaster potential. However, if you live in the United States a Chernobyl type accident cannot occur because our reactors do not have the inherent problems that were built into Chernobyl and they all have containment domes that restrict the spread of radioactive waste. During the worst accident in the United States, Three-Mile Island, no radioactive particles were released into the atmosphere. Also, a lot of work has been done in the last 20 years on reactor designs and they are much safer than they use to be.

Nuclear power is "cleaner" than other energy sources. The big complaint people have had about it is fear of another Chernobyl or 3-Mile Island. Nuclear power plant technology has come a long way since those days.

Pro - the dangers of Chernobyl are a thing of the past, nuclear energy is cheap and clean and far more reliable.

anti nuclear produsing safe. because like american country some reson for attacking time.we are needed safe attacking power. but,at this same time it is dangerous one why?because, our side somebody creating a unneeded duty(self interesting) and attacking mind that dagerous in nuclear power

Pro, it is a very clean source of energy, when used carefully and properly.

That is for you to decide. You should not allow others to tell you how to think.

As you have already stated, it has pro's and con's.
