Call it a civil union, do not compare it to the union of a man and a woman sanctified by God and then I will be cool with it.

Conservatives in general want to have marriage defined as between a man and a woman. However, some Republicans, Rudy Giuliani actually largely supports gay rights. On an ironic note, the Governor of Massachusetts, Mitt Romney, takes a more conservative view in limiting their ability to marry.

as someone who leans further right than left, I'll tell you that I'd like the government to get out of the marriage business completely. Marriage is a private symbol of two peoples love. there is no room for government in a house of love.
Of course, I don't want the government regulating half the things that the left wants them doing. so anti-gay marriage was probably created more by the left than they'd ever like to belive. quit giving the gov. power.

As soon as divorce is made illegal or the sale of pork for that matter, I'll start believing that conservatives really are trying to "protect" marriage as a religious institution.

Let people be happy and live their lives. That is pretty much the underlying philosophy of our nation. As long as what they do does not hinder my pursuit of happiness then I will not begrudge theirs.

Not a conservative but I agree that it shouldn't be considered a marriage...call it a union or whatever you want.

I'll allow it the day that two men or two women can produce a child through sexual intercourse through natural means. And since that is biologically impossible, I guess I'm against it.
