It is normal. Pregnancy softens your joints and sometimes they hurt. I'm having the same problem and my doctor said it will probably get worse.

Pregnancy varies from woman to woman and from pregnancy to pregnancy so it's not uncommon to have different symptoms the second time. What I would ask is, are you still having to lift your first child a lot? If so, make sure you lift properly (bend at the knees, don't bend your back) and try and keep an eye on your posture. If you think you have strained your back in this way, a chiropractor may be able to help you, as could swimming.
My first step, in your situation, however, would be to see a GP. As others have mentioned, it could be sciatica, SPD or ligaments stretching. Really an examination is required to get a proper diagnosis.
Good luck.

Is it down your right side of your back going into your bottom? If so this could be sciatica, I have this and it's painful. It's caused by the baby or pressure from everything expanding inside putting added pressure onto your sciatic nerve.
If it continues to get worse then the doctor can prescribe codeine as a pain relief, I managed without for some time but i now have problems with my pelvis and Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction which can all be connected.
Mention it to your midwife at your next appointment.

It could just be normal backache associated with pregnancy or it could be a condition called Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction (SPD) which is when the pregnancy hormones cause the ligaments which hold your pelvis together to relax too much, putting enormous strain on you back and pelvis. I suffered this through the later stages of my pregnancy and it was extremely painful. I couldn't get comfortable in any position. Whilst there is nothing that can be done to "cure" the problem, there is a lot that can be done to treat the symptoms. My midwife referred me to a physiotherapist at the local hospital. She gave me a support belt to wear and showed me a serious of exercise to do. Both of these really helped. Rest assured that the pain went away as soon as my little boy was born.
My advice would be to go and see your GP or midwife and explain the problem, asking her to refer you.
Hopefully they'll be able to help you.

I had the same problem which ended up as Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction. My doctor referred me to a physiotherapist who I only saw the once but got some good information on how to move correctly when pregnant to alleviate the discomfort and I was also given a support belt to wear which really helped. If it continues it might be worth having a chat with your doctor or midwife. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy!

It's pretty normal, and from what I've read, it becomes more common with each pregnancy. Two things can happen: first, your body releases a hormone that helps loosen ligaments to prepare for birth. This can shift things around and cause discomfort. Second, the shifting of weight can put pressure on your spine and sometimes cause pinched nerves. Talk to your OB to be sure, but a visit to the chiropractor can often help these symptoms.

I had a lot of pain in my lower back. Warm baths seemed to help take the edge off the pain for a while.
