I think it will influence the asker to think that a top contributer's answer is weightier. It will of course also make the person labelled "top contributer" to feel good about themselves.

it is nice to get some recognition but what are the qualifications is my question. so just like going from one level to another there are quite a few things which aren't clear.

well, when they took the stats off of the avatar, I was a little disappointed, so now I like it because it sets you apart from the beginners.
