8/3x -3= 2/3x +15
subtract the 2/3x from both sides

6/3x -3 = 15
add 3 to both sides

6/3x = 18
6/3x reduces to 2x

2x=18
divide both sides by 2

x=9

To check plug 9 in wherever there is an x in your original equation.

8/3(9) -3 = 2/3(9) +15

72/3 -3 =18/3 +15

72/3 reduces to 24 and 18/3 reduces to 6

24-3=6+15

21=21 It checks out OK

Hope this helps. I tried to break it down into all of the steps as possible.

Multiply equation by 3:

8x - 9 = 2x + 45

Add 9-2x to both sides:

6x = 54

Divide by 6:

x=9
