Men may no longer be the bread winners in a family but women have always worked and they now what a career and do not just want to be responsible for looking after a family, clean a house and don't get paid for it. Women don't have to go out to work we choose too, I am lucky at the moment I don't have to. My husband earns enough for me to make that decision and stay at home and look after my children. My mother always worked full time when I was at school 25 years ago. So some roles within marriage have changed, some for the better however some far worse. One thing that has not changed men (some) still believe a woman's place is at home attached to the oven as it was 30 years ago.

Women began entering the workforce en masse in the United States in the 1940s, so roles have been shifting here a lot longer than 30 years. In the 1960s descrimination against women in higher education pretty much bit the dust, so that opened up new job/career possiblities, but that's still more than 30 years.

I am not sure where this 30 year figure comes from.

No on divorce the woman still gets your house, all your property and everything you worked 20 years for so in that respect no nothing has changed except the solicitors fees are huge.

Yes, it is much more of a partnership now than a dictatorship. With that, come the change of shared financial responsibility, I personally wound not dream of sitting home on my butt (I do not have kids), while my husband works all day to support us. Our lifestyle is greatly enriched by that second income, not to mention the excellent health insurance that my federal job provides.

Definitely!

For one thing it was expected 30 years ago for the woman to stay home and look after the kids, now we're expected to go back to work!

Now that most women work full time, men have had to learn how to cook, do dishes, laundry, and God forbid, change a diaper or two (poor babies). I have to work, I have no choice. If he doesn't help me, he doesnt' eat or wear clean clothers.
