lol, i was awaiting this version. and i would have to say i would be extremely, EXTREMELY depressed if i did not have one of these heavenly, non clashing, orange boxes of pure pleasure. oh yes

I don't see the big deal one way or the other really.
However, here is what I think could solve all the arguments and grief...
Why not give the "Top Contributor" badges to everyone that makes it to Level 7? If they're reached Level 7, then it's a clear indication that they've made it to the "top" by "contributing" to the community. So Yahoo Answers can even leave the badge looking exactly how it is but instead give it to those who reach the top.
There will always be thousands upon thousands of people who join Y! Answers daily so it's not as if it will end up being nothing but "top contributors" on here. There will still be diversity, but it will at least be done fairly by means that won't cause so much controversy.

A moderate amount, however it fluctuates when others flaunt their orange boxes without considering the feelings of the "orange box denied".

I don't have an orange box and I'm not miserable or distressed. If fact,I'm quite happy.

Just like show business. You always want to get to the top, but once you get your little orange box, you want to be treated just like everyone else. I hate having one and wish it was an option.
