I do it a lot, and often....but it never changed one thing about the incident!

Regret is a negative emotion about the past. As the past cannot be changed, only learned from, regret is utterly pointless. Still, it comes to all of us at some time, doesn't it? All we can do is put the past behind us, deal with the situation as it is now, and move on.

It's just another kind of resentment, but instead of resenting something or somebody else, it's resenting one's own actions or self.
People make mistakes. The trick is learning from your mistakes instead of repeating them or giving up altogether. Once you accept that you are going to make mistakes before you become good at something, then regret fades (provided you didn't do something really, incredibly stupid that anybody would know not to do in advance of doing it).
But ... it's good to keep in mind that if you do something really horrible and have any kind of conscience, you might wind up resenting your own actions and living with regrets. That'll keep you honest and striving to be nice to others.

I try not to ever have regrets, but I would think regret is something that comes after you've done something that is wrong and you knew it was wrong even before you did it,then it comes the oops i shouldn't done that.. Now if you've done something you didn't know or think was wrong and then live to regret it, that is different because you learn life lessons with things like that.

regret can make us see a wrong, a mistake we are responsible for. regret can bring changes in our life for the good. regret is when we see we were wrong and want to change it.

I regret that I don't have much regret. Yeah. I'm self-centered.

I don't need them, period.
We've all made mistakes in our lives; big and small.
The important thing is to learn from them - if we can - then move forward with our lives.
I put it this way: We all have our individual "back packs" as we walk the road of life, and mine has no room for regrets. They have no value and they just take up space and weigh us down.

No one is going to make the perfect decisions all of the time. It's what we learn from it and never repeat the same mistakes.
