Now the U.S. Attorney General, and thus this administration, is intimidating and firing U.S. Attorneys who do not tow the party line of this administration. Congressional hearings are under way where it is coming out that sitting politicians are calling U.S. Attorneys at home and asking about certain sealed indictments. For those of you not familiar, this act is unprecedented.

Just how corrupt can this administration get? All sorts of rocks are being lifted on this despicable group. God help America. The Cheney/Bush administration is looking more and more like homegrown terrorists.

thegubmint - yes, they are political appointments. my point is the way they are being fired (using the Patriot Act). What is unprecidented is the politicians calling U.S. Attorneys at home making queries about sealed indictments and putting pressure on these attorneys to tow the line "or else".

We will see more degeneration of our system before Bush and his minions are out of office.

He's set a precedent that will continue long after he's gone. And those fools (
Republicans) will find ways to say Clinton started it.

I don't know how to tell you this, but that is most certainly not unprecedented. U.S. Attorneys are by nature political jobs, subject to the whims of the Attorney General's office. Have been, always will be.

Just another example of the far right filling or trying to fill government positions with political hacks instead of competent staff.
The crowning disgrace of that policy was, of course, the handling of Katrina.
The proof that they 'own' a great deal of the press via 'interviews only for the loyal' is that so many of the public blame the victims of Katrina due to constant flogging by right-wing members of the press.
