There was a discovery made a few years ago that might interest you. Scientists using a particle collider as a way of determining the conditions of the early universe discovered that it wasn't some fiery gas with particles flying off in different directions. They discovered that the early universe state behaved like a liquid. In a nut shell, After the initial creation of the universe, there was a liquid state. This research is causing many to rethink their models of how the universe was after the Big Bang. This web site can explain it in more detail: http://www.space.com/scienceastronomy/ap_050419_early_universe.html
Personally I think someone beat them to it over 2000 years ago. " And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the DEEP. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the WATERS." Holy Bible, Genesis 1:2(emphasis mine)

Is there a specific question hidden in there somewhere?

Why don't you just take a class on Special Relativity and then you'll know all about it.
