I have seen at places like meijer's, in the camping section, air mattresses that actually have a metal frame to them that gets it up off the floor. The frame accordion folds after the mattress is deflated and it stores in it's own bag. Definitely check Meijers; I'm pretty sure it was a store brand.

I would go to the camping section of your local department store. We bought the best folding bed (3x2 when folded) at Fred Meyer's the other day. Our bed is a twin when unfolded, other sizes are available of course, we provided sheets and a pillow and just love it! I believe James said he paid about $50 for it.

I had looked at furniture stores and such but find I'm much happier with this bed that folds all over instead of one that collapses.

Have you considered the air mattresses? That's probably the cheapest route to take (rather than the old bed that literally folded in half and could be stored in a large closet). Also, while they're expensive, my sofa is a "hide-a-way" bed that is queen-sized. I almost never need it but it's nice/ easy and LARGE rather than having to blow up the air mattress or get out a clunky fold-a-way bed. Good luck!

is hard to advise you when I dont know where you live.
Here in Brisbane if I wanted to buy a fold up bed i would go through "the weekend shopper"( it comes in the courier mail)
My mum actually bought 2 really good ones about 2 months age for $30 each

I agree with kerrydwen - I have bought an inflatable matress for my guests. It is easy to store, doesn't take much space - and once I had to use it myself for a week when we moved to a new house - and it is VERY comfortable! There are different types on the sale, you can buy them from any supermarket or DIY store. I have a one-tier matrass but they could be two-tiers as well, if you want them to be higher, different sizes and they have electric pumps

Wal-Mart is your best bet if you would rather have an air mattress. My parents are elderly and suffer from arthritis. When they came to visit I got them an air mattress that's actually around 18 inches from the ground and they loved it!! It was around $65 and it inflates and deflates without a manual pump. It saves space and is pretty awseome.

Ikea has some cool chairs that fold into beds. Kind cheap too.
