Hi!
I'm so sad. On Saturday one rabbit died she was very hard when she was dead.

The other rabbit died on Tuesday. She made suicide!

When we put her in the grave we noticed that the one who made suicide was soft.

I don't understand. Can anybody tell me?

Thanks!

To all, Thanks a lot for the answers!

I'm not sure why they died. Last week Saturday it was really warm (I live in Taiwan). I guess the two rabbits had a lot of stress in the cage. After the first rabbit died the other rabbit was really strange. Didn't move so much. She looked very sad. Then from Monday the weather changed again. It rained a lot. And it was cold. On Tuesday I played a lot with the rabbit before I left home. But I noticed that she was really strange. She was shivering very often. I think she did something with her teeth. Furthermore, her body temperature was not so warm.
So terrible!
When I returned home I went to look for the rabbit. I was really shocked! : ( i saw the rabbit between the top of the bars. I mean her head was outside of the top of the bar. It looked like that she climbed on the top to put her head outside. One of her feet touched the bar. Her eyes were a bit shut. But her mouth was closed. She was hard.

Hard? I've had many rabbits before but never have I buried a 'hard' dead rabbit... Maybe it was in a seizure or some physical complication when it died...

The rabbit that was "soft" or flexible hadn't been dead long when you found it so rigor mortis hadn't set in yet. While rigor mortis had set in on the other one who wasn't flexible or "hard". Do you know why they died? I would look into what caused them to die if I were you. I've had a lot of my rabbits die for unknown reasons but not 2 in a matter of 3 days, unless they were babies.

I had a rabbit that had a heat stroke and i held him even after he passed away. I tried everything to help him cool down. but i couldn't get him to the vet. It takes a while for the body to stiffen.

its call rigor mortis..

you just found the one rabbit after that set it..

and the other one before it set it..

which means the soft rabbit had just recently died..

sorry about your bunnies.. i have a few of them myself and its always sad when they die...

"my heart joins the thousands, when my friend stopped running today" <--rabbit quote from watership down....

(thats a rabbit prayer you say when they die)
