How is this in any way related to LGBT issues, where you asked this question, other than not giving marriage rights to all citizens being discrimination and therefore unConstitutional?

Is that the point you were making? Thanks!

Well the Structure is that of a Republic--consisting of an Emperor.....sorry President, a Senate, and the congress. The idea to have checks and balances so that not even the Emperor.....sorry President can do as he pleases. Of course, like other Republics of the past, most notably Rome, the US Emperor.....apologies, President has stacked the deck so to speak. Only now are the people coming to realize the error of having an Emperor.....President, and like all good republics is now voting to have the power base removed.

As for the philosophy, at the moment, with the current Emperor.......President (sorry I just keep thinking Imperial), there is the belief that the US must become the last great Empire on the planet. This of course will fail, as it has in the past, because there are other forces now manifesting themselves to counter this attempt at global hegemony.

Reread J D 's answer again - it is the answer you are looking for.

J D seems to have a lot to say about our system of government, considering that he is not an American !

But, I have to say that he is probably more right in the description he gave than most Americans could be !

I agree with him about our Emperor.....(oops) President, and his goals. (Actually, I think they are the goals of the political system, but he believes in it, and is trying to carry on with it). Actually, I agree with his total answer.

I'll bet most Americans wouldn't be able to name the three branches of our government that makes up the checks and balances that he speaks of.

Again, I think he deserves "Best Answer" !

too earily in the morning for that but it was written many years ago and we have out grown it (my opinion) and it needs to be revised and updated.
