possibly a bone spur...they can be very painful. Or perhaps a muscular or tendon injury...sometimes those are not obvious injuries. Have you tried any pain medications? Ibuprofen 800mg every 8 hours may be effective (as long as you don't have any bleeding disorders or stomach ulcers)

It is a condition called shin splints. Shin splints are microfractures on the main weight bearing bone called the Tibia. They hurt like heck. Use ice packs to reduce pain. They are also caused by stress on the tendons and soft tissues.

Sounds like shinsplints, although you said there's no injury. Has a doctor confirmed that? HAve you recently been rollerblading (tends to burn your shins something fierce if you don't do it properly). In any event, go in to your doctor, who will likely perform some xrays. Don't leave it to "heal on it's own". Shin splints are nasty.

If you don't like the way I drive , stay off the sidewalk !...... Arthritis !...welcome to the club ! Even if you think you had no injury, you could be suffering from the effects of an OLD injury. You will know when the weather is going to change, because you will get sore the day before. Did it get cold where you are ?
