I am really big for only being 9 weeks and everyone in my work is making jokes that there might be more than one in there! I'm pretty sure there's no history of twins in my family or in my boyfriends family but could it still be possible that I am having twins? x

There does not have to be ahistory of twins in the family to have twins. Fraternal (non identical twins) do tend to run in familes, but identical twins can happen to anyone.

There is always a chance of having twins or more.

It depends on your egg. Having a history only helps your chances.

Also here is a little bit of information I saw on a show called 'In the Womb: Multiples'. Its a great show to watch where your pregnant. Its tells you that 50% of woman start off having twins but by the time an ultrasound and see the baby's the second baby is gone. Its called disappearing twin syndrome.

You dont even know that there were two in there but for a short amount of time there was.

You *could* be having twins, even if there is no family history. But that doesn't mean that you *are* having twins! Even if you are having twins, it would be very early to be truly showing, and is more likely to be having bloating.
Women having twins often have worse morning sickness and other pregnancy symptoms.
Only an ultrasound can tell for sure.

You could be having twins but it is too early to tell. If this is not your first child remember that sometimes you get bigger than you did for your first. Also everyones body is different. Don't take your co-workers jokes too seriously. I was really big for my second child- so big that my doctor kept asking me if I was having twins ( twins do run in both mine and hubby's family though- I think my body might have been preparing for twins that never happened or I miscarried one so early in my pregnancy that I never noticed) anyway everyone is different. Ask your doc on your next appointment if you are concerned. He/She should be able to tell- maybe you can get scheduled for an early ultrasound.

It is always possible..but keep in mind that fraternal *non identical* twins are only hereditary..indentical twins can happen to anyone regardless of family history. It is also possible that what u are experiencing is bloating...major bloating happens in very early pregnancy and usually lasts until u start showing which is around 12-16 weeks. Good luck!

Of course its possible you could be having twins. Altho mabe you are retaining water or mabe some other reason for looking large. Mabe you are further ahead than you think.
Mention it to your MW see what she says, you will be able to find out at you first scan :)
Congratulations on your pregnancy and good luck !

of course its possible. With my first my midwife thought it was twins in the early stages and when I told her there was no history of twins either side she rightly said.. it has to start somewhere. If you are you are. Quite wonderful I think.
Just relax see what happens at your 12 week scan. good luck
