i think its pretty impossible to be just 6 degrees away, its definitely 100% impossible. i cant have , for example, an iceland friend who's just 6 degrees away from me.

It is known as "Six degrees of separation" or "Small world problem"

A common theory says that everyone can be reached in six steps. You know someone who know someone else, etc in six steps.

The idea was first introduced by Frigyes Karinthy, a Hungarian writer in a 1929. He thought that everyone can be reached in 5 steps.

Later psychologist Milgram suggested similar idea in the 60's. He tried to prove the idea inside the US.

A recent internet experiment is the "Find Satochi" which you can find here: http://www.findsatoshi.com

It tries to prove the six degrees of separation puzzle.

i think this theory is correct but im not sure if just 6 degrees would do it. im sure it is possible though because of the whole " i know a person who knows a person who has a cousin who knows a person" kind of thing
