I am old and wrinkly enough to remember the first incarnation of Yahoo! Answers, when the whole thing was done by carrier pigeon.

What would happen was, if you had a question, you got a pigeon from you coop and attached a ringlet (containing your query) to it's leg. It would then fly off to a sorting office in Wandsworth, where the 20,000-stong Yahoo! team would sort through all the questions and inform other users of the question via telegram.

The system worked, but not particularly well. Occasionally, pigeons would get lost (a fact that the current Y!A incorporates in the vein of nostalgia - which you have probably experienced a question that simply never gets posted).

This new, up-to-date version of Y!A is both far more convenient and undeniably faster than previous, but it has lost that loving, personal touch.

Can't stay the same forever, it's gotta change sometime or people wouldn't have anything to complain about.

I want it back to where we could have thumbs up and down for questions. I want it all back when that feature was there.
