I'm a British Muslim hoping to go to NY with a friend soon, and I was wondering due to being a Muslim and looking South Asian/Indian will I get any hassle in the US for looking the way I am. I'm typically Western, I don't have a beard!

I had a work colleague who was questioned in Seattle as soon as he landed due to being British of Pakistani orgin. He was innocent and so am I, I'm dreading the same is going to happen to me due to my appearence. I can understand the security reasons behind it but I disagree this whole racial profiling on innocents, considering extremists can be of any ethnicity...

How will I be greeted in the US as well? I know many Americans dislike Arabs due to what's going on in Iraq now. And though I look more Indian than Arab, some people don't know the difference.

Here in the US you may have a run in with someone but it's NOT VERY LIKELY. We have races from all over the world in this country...it's what we're made of.

Post 911 brought out a subtle form of racism toward Arab men. Though it may still exist in certain parts of the country, the vast majority of Americans know that terrorism is based around the fascist levels of Islam...not your average peace loving Muslims.

Traveling here would be safer for you than any other part of the world. :)

no longer merely is it unfair, this is dangerously unreliable. All a Revolutionary Organization 17 November has to do is recruit somebody who would not look like what we predict terrorists to look like and we are lifeless. Screening passengers in line with ANY profiling-correct standards could be opposite-engineered and circumvented. the only ideas that paintings are screening all people (unrealistic), screening no one (accomplishes no longer something), or--and that's actual the desirable answer--screening passengers thoroughly at random. once you pass in the process the secure practices checkpoint, the workers roll 3 cube; in the event that all of them arise as fives, you get specific screening; or you pass by to standard secure practices examine. real randomness is the only thank you to assure that the device won't have the capacity to be hacked.

Depends on the state or wich town. New York everybody is treated bad. You might get some dirty looks in the south or get a woopin if you go to certain area's in the south or midwest. But Most likely nothing will ever happen. I'm american and i am saying you will be just fine, its the black getto's of new york you must worry about late at night.

They don't treat people bad in NY not police anyhow certainly not You wont bothered at the north but would more farther south.
There are many Americans like me who think racial profiling for terrorists be ridiculous so don't worry. Caucasians get interrogated for being in European countries too !
I doubt you'll be seriously interrogated unless your near a monument historic.

Get you some bear mace spray !
I'm sure you will be hassled a bit by gangs if there are any as they hassle everyone in NY.

Americans generally are friendly and enjoy foreigners. You may find New Yorkers more rude than in other parts of the USA, but that's just the way they are. Be smart, don't answer back to smart alec remarks in NYC.

Hopefully..yes! Vigilance is paramount if innocent people are to be protected from vicious, medieval practises and beliefs.
What are you doing in your everyday life to help change your so called peaceful and benign religion where preachers openly espouse hatred of others and promote Sharia laws in a predominately christian or secular country. Great Britain.

You may do, however if you do, please send a message of thanks to all those that embrace terrorism in the name of your religion, for "making your life much less enjoyable".

All true Muslims should be actively doing their best to break all bonds between their religion, and acts of terrorism, as ultimately (in the very near future), the world will end up like the one in V for Vendetta, i.e.: not a brown face in the house...

Please be aware of the Fundamentalist Christian Uprising that is currently sweeping across America, they can be unforgiving and perform atrocious acts of violence in the name of their God (Jesus Christ) who is only a Son of the 1 True God...

You better go to the mosque and convince all those jehadis about the virtues of democracy vis vis sharia law.Unless the educated Muslims themselves take upon the task of containing the growth of fundamentalism, you better live with the enemity of all other races in this world.
