If you mean those disks you put into your computer drive to use various programs, then you're talking about a Compact Disk.

A CD is a disk that can be read (and in some cases, re-written) by a computer. The computer's CD drive uses a little laser beam to "read" the information off of microscopic pits and valleys on the disk, which coinside with computer code, binary. (01101001...)

There are two types of CDs: CD-R and CD-RW. CD-R stands for CD Recordable, which means that information can be put on the disk once, but then its there permanently. CD-RW stands for CD ReWritable, which means (as seen from the name) that a computer can put on and take off information on the disk all you want, or, if you use it like a billion times, until it wears out.

Compact Disk.There are two types of Cd.
Writeable Cd where you can use the Cd only once
Rewritable Cd where you can use the same Cd any number of times.
You can store songs ,movies etc .

a round plastic thing with a data track, vaguely similar to the old vinyl discs called records. tiny bumps in the data track are read by a laser and converted into usable electronic pulses.
