Would there be as many if there were no D.H. at all? By the way, don't assume anything,as I have mixed feelings about the D.H.

I don't see any reason for there to be an increased number of brushback pitches.

DH or no DH, Major League Baseball frowns on brushback pitches. Owners don't want to see their assets getting hurt, especially in an era when some of these guys are making $100,000 PER GAME.

Pitchers are now getting warned on pitches that merely come TOO CLOSE to hitters and most pitchers don't even know how to pitch inside anymore.

So I wouldn't expect to see all that many brushbacks in 2007, or ever again for that matter.

There will be some brushback pitches and a couple brawls every season, so why would 2007 be any different?

Watch every Carlos Zambrano start, especially against the Cardinals, and I guarantee there will be at least one brushback pitch per game.

As for brawls, look at the heated rivalries. Pick an AL West game, or AL Central game not involving Kansas City, and the potential for a brawl is there. Also, these rivalries could result in a brawl: Yankees-Red Sox, Cubs-Cardinals, Cubs-White Sox, Dodgers-Giants, Dodgers-Padres, Giants-Padres, Yankees-Mets. Lastly, one (un)intentional HBP could instigate a brawl between teams who would otherwise have no reason to dislike one another.

The DH has nothing to do with it. If you hit my 3rd best player I hit your 3rd best player.
