When a man is separated from his wife - he often rushes into a relationship with a girl who obviously a whore since that is adultery. She doesn't realize that the family would be better off FIXING the mess they are in. Does she do this becaue she is selfish, stupid, or just very naive in believing that the ex is a monster and that man is a victim? Neither mate was perfect lets face it. Why would a woman act this way - is she so desperate?

Very good point RAIN, I just think that these husbands might change their ways...time helps and if there are children....guess I am old fashioned.

OOPS...did I say whore?

I meant to say 'adultress.' That would be a legal fact, not just an opinon - great point.

DRAECOIR I AGREE. THEY ARE BOTH ADULTERES - I started out the question 'your' way in fact but I changed it thinking that since it was a women's studies section I would focus on the women. I DEFINITEY BLAME THE CHEATING SPOUSE FIRST, but the third member of the scenerio would be nobel to step back, and at least wait for the divorce.

Perhaps the wife who he abandoned (for another women) shouldn't be thinking about how to fix the marriage but instead figure out why in the hec she would even want him back. It doesn't sound like the man is interested in fixing anything, otherwise he wouldn't be in another woman's bed.

As for the "other woman", she is just as silly as the wife. And the man? He gets the attention of both women. Clever.

Personaly, I don't believe seperation. I think it's a sham. Either divorce or work it out.

ADD ON:
No, these men won't change their ways - they have no reason to when their behaviour is frequently excused...and when the woman pretends she's not outraged. If she truly doesn't feel outraged then it must also be true that her opinion of that man is not very high to begin with - in which case she has not chosen her equal and therefore it can not be "true love". Not holding someone accountable for their actions is harmful to both people and compromises the integrity of the relationship.

not every family would be better off fixing it. not every couple CAN fix it. and why are you condemning the person who can do nothing to force the family to fix itself? shouldn't you be condemning the one who is (from your assumptions) lying and committing adultery in their relationship? in your instance, you should not be asking if the 'other woman' is selfish or stupid, but whether the MAN that is still married but in another relationship is selfish or stupid.

and what if it's the other way around, do you hold the same assumptions? i'm sure you wouldn't word it the same

Perhaps she just doesn't believe in contractual "obligations" when it comes to relationships.

Why is she "obviously" a "whore"? There's nothing obvious about your own opinion.

Who says that the family would be better off fixing the mess they're in? An everlasting foundation for happiness is not a prerequisite for marriage. There could be a million valid reasons for why "fixing" things would be either impossible or undesirable.

I think the only "desperate" person in a scenario like this is the selfish seperated wife who instantly deems anyone her "husband" engages with a "whore".

Edit: Why does it sound like I am? I'm happily engaged and could never dream of venturing outside of my relationship for anything. That doesn't mean that I'm going to assume some sort of holier-than-thou attitude when the realities of many relationships are far from ideal. If you're seperated, you're seperated. The only thing that distinguishes it from breaking up with a girl/boyfriend is the contractual agreement that you entered into when you got married.

Would it be any of your business who your ex-boyfriend slept with?

I think because the "other" woman doesn't want to face reality that the man couldve been in the wrong so it is easier to believe what the man says .... make sense to you??? Woman are weird creatures - we would rather believe the "other" woman is a whore or she stole our husband then think that the problem could be form our sides and not neccessarily the mans.

There are women who enjoy it to be the other woman, just like there are men who enjoy banging other peoples wifes (although it might be for practical reasons).

The female psyche revels in stories about other wives as it gives them a vicarious pleasure. I'd say it's hormonal.
