Do the majority of people who engage in homosexuality consider themselves exclusively gay or bisexual?

I completely support homosexuals, I'm in favor of gay marriage, etc. I'm just curious about the nature of same sex attraction. Thanks!

I am 100% gay. I was married at 19 to a woman and that lasted until I was 22. I was not either happy or unhappy I felt like I was just doing what I was supposed to do. We had 1 child together which I raised. I met my husband when I was 24 and today I am 39 and I am am very happy with my life. My daughter move out to her own apartment last summer and is going to college. She is a well adjusted happy young woman, well on her way to a degree that will give her a career in 'something to do with languages'.

I have been a lesbian for over 44 years and I consider myself exclusively gay but I give credit where credit is due. Meaning: No matter the gender or sexual orientation when a person has a nice personality, or sharp dresser, or intelligence, etc. I say so and usually to their face.
My sexual orientation does not, nor never will, cut off the rest of the human race.
I have many friends from all walks of life and sexual preference is not an issue.

Carl, my guess is that the majority of people in this particular forum would self-identify as gay.

Having said that though, to answer your question directly: I would say the vast majority of people (especially men) who engage in homosexual behavior at some point in their lives are a grand mixture of what we term as homosexuals, bisexuals, and heterosexuals. Those who do it on an ongoing basis are either homosexuals or bisexuals. What you "see" is really the tip of the iceberg as far as non-straight people go though. Most of these folks feel more comfortable not disclosing facts about their sexuality and are closeted homosexuals or bisexuals (or at least partially in the closet). That is why it is so difficult to adequately come up with true, statistical figures regarding human sexual orientation.

My gut feeling about your question? I think the vast majority of people who engage in homosexuality think of themselves as homosexuals. Still, I have to tell you that there is probably a huge bisexual minority out there. (Many men, for example, that we perceive to be straight are actually bisexual.)

The only other qualifying aspect you have to consider too is that to engage or not to engage in any sexual behavior does not necessarily make one a homosexual, bisexual, or heterosexual. To fully understand sexual orientation you have to consider how the person feels inside (how he or she self-identifies) more so than what they actually do or who his or her primary sexual partners are. Homosexuals (gays and lesbians) tend to self-identify quite early in life (even if they keep it a secret). Bisexuals,on the other hand, tend to self-identify later than homosexuals.

I hope this helps you understand sexual orientation a little bit better.

Listen I think women canbe sexy as all Hell. But Do I want to sleep with them? NO! I like a man. I like the hair, the smell, the taste, the walk, Everything. This si what always got my engine running! ANd yes I had been with women in the past and I couldnt really get past the Oral pleasing of them, It just didnt feel right when I had sex with them. I felt like something was missing. I found it though when I first engaged in sex with a man!

I'm certainly bisexual - not that I realised it when I began my adult adventure.

I thought I was straight and that was fun. Then I thought I was gay and that was fun too. As it is, I'm not sure how being something that spans both sides of the divide can be exclusive :)

I'm totally gay - but I love looking at girl porn once in a while - I'm either fascinated with what they are doing sexually (they tend to be more expressive than men during sex) or I find myself staring at the man.

I was in a healthy marriage a long time, it fractured, a divorce ensued, and a few years later, I am in a same sex relationship. I think sexuality is private, a continuum, and for many, not just a gay, straight, choice.
