Basically i've been racking my brains to remember a certain game i enjoyed playing in the early nineties.
Its an old 2D RPG for one of the old Sega or Nintendo consoles.
But one of the only things i can remember is that you start the game fighting with a flute type instrument (could be a pipe or whistle?).
ive searched for hours and even asked AQA (any questions answered) and they failed to answer.
Yahoo is my only hope.
and just to confirm. The game im thinking of isnt Alex Kidd.

Its definitely not 3D. i wish i could be more helpful.
and i dont think it is Ocarina of time as many ppl have suggested because i dont think u START the game with a flute.
all i can remember is that it was old and D&D type game.
also could have been for gameboy.

I'm thinking "Illusion of Gaia" by Quintent, for the Super Nintendo, as well.
It's a great 2D top-down Action/Adventure/RPG game, but of all the things I remember, Will starting out with a flute really stood out for me.
It's the sequel to SoulBlazer, and was followed by Terranigma (not released in the US).
Check the link out and look over the pictures... That might stir your memory.

Crystalis and Dragon Warrior come to mind. I was thinking it might be the Legend of Mana, or maybe A Bard's Tale. Those might be too new though. Can you give any more detail about the game? Quests, key characters, plot, special features would all be useful.

i really think it's 'illusion of gaia' on super nintendo
the game feels like.. south american or something. or mexican at the least. aztec and mayan feelings run throughout the game
you're a boy, and have a flute as a weapon. yea, you hit with it, but you can also push L or R or something, and it will spin the flute and pull things toward you
when you visit the statue of gaia, it looks like a cave on the outside usually, but inside, where you see the statue, it's like outer space in the background. the statue was to save, and also to transform in to DAN ( i think his name was dan) that was a much larger warrior with a sword, and later in the game, a liquid shadow like thing.
most of the music in the game was sad, and most of the villages had people that were suffering depression and were being... sapped of humanity

Is it Illusion of Gaia/ Illusion of Time? Because I remember that your first weapon in the game was indeed a flute. It's an action RPG, and very good, although short.
