well one way is to burn your songs onto "mix" cds and put them on the computer like that, and if you are using itunes, go to apple.com and click on support in the tab menu, and in the search box, type in "transferring music library to another computer" the first result in the list gives you detailed instructions on how to transfer your entire library at once.

Since you have wireless homenetwork, you're set and ready to go. It would be much better if you transfer them directly through cables than wireless, even with g, the transfer speed is only 54mbs, while the cable is 100mbs (almost twice as much), 1/2 time less to sit and wait.
Here's how to do it. YOu would need to enable the Sharing. Double click My Computer of your PC (main computer), right click C: drive, select Sharing and Security, follow the Sharing Wizard. Make sure pay close attention to the settings, so you can use the same setting for your laptop, and make sure your laptop is connected directly with cable to your router. At the end, it will give you an option to save the settings and use it somewhere else, just choose the last option, and be done with it. Now, if you switch back to your C: drive, you now see a hand that is holding your C: drive, this indicates your C: is ready to share, make sure temporary turn off your Firewall connection to make smooth setup and transition. Do the same Sharing enable with your laptop.
Once everything's done, from anycomputer, you can able to see the other's computer C: drive. Here, you now can just drag and drop your file back and forth. Once you've done, if you want to, you can leave your sharing enabled, if not, turn it off for security (for just in case), and enable your firewall back on (if you have one and turned it off)
Your other option to transfer music is, if you have an external USB HD (harddrive), then just connect the HD to your PC, transfer the music to the HD, then connect this HD to your laptop, trasnsfer it to your laptop. Transfering by method 1 is a hi-tech way to do it :) and at least, you're learning something new too :)
Good luck and have fun with your tunes.

I'm not sure of the system you're using or type of router you have so I can only guess at the type of setup you have, but
You already have the wireless system , so you're part of the way there.
If you have windows XP you might want to the following link. I like this one because it walks you through the steps with pictures. You might be able to go right to step five if your router is already all set up. it' s starts here, and it also covers file sharing.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/813936/
they also have windows 98 directions here:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/814235/
this also goes through 8 parts
(you can also share a printer.through these directions).
personally I like the wireless home network route because I can share files and send things to my printer from another room. I didn't have to buy any extra software or anything, and i don't' have to have the computers right next to each other for me to share files or print..but that's just my MHO.
But, If you'd rather go another way..connecting computers directly through cables etc. there's lots of info on that at
here:
http://compnetworking.about.com/od/basicnetworkingconcepts/a/file_sharing.htm
The first page explains the different ways you can do file sharing, and then it has links to how to set up those systems of file sharing.
Good luck.

This is what my guy did for me. I am on a laptop he has a desktop that had my files on it,so he got a wire(not sure what its called darn paper went missing)that transfers from one computer to the other. You must keep them together and can not touch or do anything till the transfer is complete.

All the ideas above are perfect. But, let's work with what you've got. If both machines are connected to the Internet, it is possible to download Point2Point software on each machine and directly copy the files from one PC to the other over the Internet. Both machines can also share files locally on your home network.

You have many options to do that. First is to write them on CDs and then transfer to your laptop. Other options are to connect them with wire or wirelessly via LAN. Or connect them to the same Wi-Fi router area to transfer them from pc to laptop. Another very good option is to first transfer them to external hard drive, or pen drive or any other temporary storage media and then tranfer it...and enjoy

if u have USB Flash card it would be a real help....if you have a CD/DVD writer that'll be great help.....best way is just to put it in one of them and save it in ur laptop. IF u dont have any. then u should buy a flash card of around 512mb/1gb/2gb accordin' to your budget...it can be erased and filled again...like a floppy or a re-writable CD....it's how i transfered my stuff.

If both pc's have bluetooth, simply pair them up.
You can then transfer files where you want. Very easy!
My pc's all have bluetooth. I use it extensively to transfer songs and photoclips from my cellphone too.
