The smallest easily available turtles are the Mud and Musk turtles, most of which will be around 4" as an adult.
The Reeves turtle is another small species- also 4-5" as an adult.
Most Painted turtles will hit close to 6", although the smaller Southern Painted males will usually be closer to 4".
On a sadder note, most of the baby turtles sold will not get to more than a few inches long before they die from improper cares because of all of the mis-information out there.

I also have a purple foot. they are able to be an incredible puppy while you're keen to commit quite some area to them. by skill of somewhat some area, I advise like a 9' by skill of 9' tortoise table, with some outdoors grazing time. in addition they pick their enclosures stored enormously humid. a extra perfect tortoise decision for many folk could be a Russian. i'm actual going to be getting a sort of from a rescue around right here quickly. they are able to tolerate plenty cooler temperature as they are not a tropical species. You do nonetheless pick a lamp so they're able to get warmer in the event that they pick to, yet, you do no longer could complication approximately protecting it warm such as you could with some species.. in addition they don't get everywhere close to as massive as purple foots. The species i pick to advise least are Sulcata's and purple-eared sliders. Sulcata's because of the fact they get thank you to important to be stored interior the residing house and could in basic terms be stored properly in some states with the aid of temperature. purple-eared because of the fact they are going to finally pick a extensive aquatic tank and can be high priced to maintain and stinky because of the fact of that and their extra carnivorous meals regimen. nevertheless, of direction the two of those could be stored by skill of a dedicated proprietor. i think of somewhat some people purchase purple eared sliders because of the fact they're low priced and that they don't comprehend that a extensive turtle skill a extensive tank and filter out. A russian tortoise is approximately $one hundred in a puppy shop and a purple-eared slider is approximately $10. yet, the purple-eared slider will fee so plenty extra to set-up and guard..

Well, not 2or3 inches, but a western painted will not get that big at all. Mine is about two years and still 3.5". His brother is about 4" now. They dont get that large, and are definately smaller than a RES. So if you want a small turtle, you can get one of those.

Yes there are! I don't know what they are called but their very small and some varieties have a bluish tint on them. I almost got a couple of them for my pond but then again decided not to as I was afraid that crows may carry them off!
