It seems that recently many bands have been opting for names sourced from popular old TV or cartoon shows. Take The Fratellis for example. The Fratellis were the bad guys in The Goonies movie! McFly (although I hate the band) were named from the family in the Back to the Future trilogy. I believe there is even band named after Mumm-ra, the bad guy from the Thundercats!
Maybe pick a popular or obscure fictional character that you like from your childhood? I was having a think and came up with:
Venkman (Bill Murray's character in Ghostbusters)
Cobra Kai (the dojo in Karate Kid)
Ripley (Sigourney Weaver in Aliens)
Nostromo (the ship from Alien)
Hightower / Tackleberry (Police Academy characters)
Dark Helmet (Spaceballs)
