no, we've got a pretty expensive cat and my Dad's kinda cheap.

No not really, I don't know anything about your Dad but Doctors are supposed to keep their private lives private. Patients have been know to approach a Physician's wife and children if they find out who they are.

A lot of Doctors if not most don't keep family pictures where patients can see them. There is also the issue of transference, a psychological condition, where a patient of the opposite sex will actively spy on a Doctor's family, so Physicians sometimes have to be careful.
