to show my kids what happens when you crash not wearing a helmet did i break any laws?

I don't know for sure, but it is generally not a good idea to show such a horrific sight to children. There are reasons why the laws prevent children from entering the ICU.

Its impolite and some hospitals do have notices that prevent picture taking. There are other ways to show your kids the repercussion of not wearing a helmet such as websites.

Did you get permission from your friend to show the pictures to your kids? If not, you may have violated his or her right to privacy under the HIPPA laws. That act states that patients have a right not to have medical information shared with anyone other than immediate family, unless permission is granted (usually in writing). Ask your friend to sign a waiver, giving you permission to show pictures of ICU procedures to your kids. Otherwise, you could be sued under HIPPA.

as long as the people who can get you in trouble dont find out , then your fine , just dont let the pics get out to any avenues which can be linked back to you as a source.
