China and India will become an economic superpowers as they industrialize and enter the world economy.

Russia is on the way back to rival the US and the EU they will soon have super power status, militarily and economically.

The EU can only be a power if they continue to unite into a formation like the United States, they continue to sub divide on a number of issues.

But for awhile the United States will be very difficult to beat.

We're actually not headed to another superpower like when the USA and USSR were around. Instead things will be like it was back before WWI. Many powers each making alliances with others to counter another's power. The two main ones will be the USA, and Russia, with India, China, Germany, Britian, Japan, Pakistan, France as other powers as well. The US and Russia will not have the same power as they had in the Cold War.

US's power will shrink, but its unlikely any country could match the power and success the US had in the last 30 years. China will become more powerful, but not near as powerful as people are predicting. Historically every time China has become powerful they have slowly given it up in favor of isolationism. The EU is also a favorite, but I doubt the Euro will succeed where 2 World Wars failed. I see a diminish of the superpower in general.

If the EU ever gets properly amalgamated then this could be a superpower, but that is unlikely to happen any time soon.

For sheer population numbers, potential and manufacturing resource, it is difficult to look beyond China. Many western companies are out-sourcing manufacturing to China and most of the world steel production goes into this country.

India could give them a run for their money, but the country is lacking in mineral resources which could hold them back.

Every superpower has lost power over time--the Romans, the Spanish, the British, and we will too. I have a feeling that if we aren't careful, we're going to bomb ourselves back to the stone ages and the cockroaches will take over as the next superpower.
