my son was sick in his cot last night and it went everywhere
I've cleaned and cleaned and cleaned everything but it still smells really bad. I left the window open all night but it hasn't really helped.
Any ideas on how long the smell will stay or on what to use to help get rid of the smell? I don't want to use spray air fresheners as it wont be good for him to sleep in.
Many thanks xxx

I have wooden floor boards in the room, and have removed all blankets/teddies out of the cot and washed them.

If you still use Milton for sterilizing his drinking bottles then use some of that around , just add a little to tepid water , you can use this on the floor for example. the other things the frame of the cot you can use Detox wipes . These 2 thing´s will soon get the smell away. Hope he feels better soon or was it just wind

Someone else mentioned charcoal. I have the perfect product that I've used for years and know dozens of other people that use it. It is a product called FRIDGE IT odor absorbers. It is a little purple cube with an incredible activated carbon filter inside that is really, really, great. It works so much better than baking soda and all those sprays and fragrances that just cover up smells and doesn't get rid of them. Also, alot of sprays have warning statements about being eye irritant. The carbon literally absorbs and eliminates the odors and works for a long time. Just place a few around problem areas. I use this product everywhere including car, storage, closets, my fridge and also under sinks, near trash and have friends that use it on cat litter box and also diaper pails - it's that good. I really recommend it. You can buy it in kitchen gadget sections in stores like walmart and linens and things. I also think camping world sells it. Definitely worth trying.

I used to have a cat who would eat our plants and then get sick in truly inconvenient places like the floor heating vent — in the winter. I used WHITE VINEGAR cut with water (about a 50/50 ratio). It will smell "vinegary" for a bit, but it kills germs, it's environmentally friendly, will clean your wood floor nicely, and the smell will dissipate (especially if you can open the windows). You might want to consider laundering his bedding again, perhaps with some baking soda mixed with your detergent. And if you can, wipe down the cot mattress with a bit of vinegar/water on a clean rag. Good luck!

I have heard that burning candles will help with smells.
Also, there are products in the groceries, containing soda to sprinkle on the carpet to help with pet smells or just to freshen the carpet. This should help.
You could even wash with some soda water, Don't know if that would help or not. Soda does help get rid of odors. (But don't know if in water it would help.)

Vinegar/concentrated lemon juice in the rinse water for mopping helps...if you have cinnamon in your house, put a teaspoon in a glass of water, and heat it up in the microwave for about 30 seconds, then leave the glass in the room ...like a natural air freshener!

Hi Skatty
I too would recommend baking soda and water but be careful it can bleach some fabrics. Milton will do the same!!! Bleach stuff I mean!!!
The matches trick is great for poo smells!!!!
Hope the little fella is soon feeling better bless him! Nothing worse is there, he must feel really rotten

make sure your son is out of the room and light a couple of matches and put them out quickly the sulphur smell will get rid of the sick smell, leave it 30minutes and then open the window and let fresh air in the room.

I have the same problem! my sister threw up just after the New Year in our shard bedroom, it was horrible. Unless you get the carpet proffessionally cleaned, you'll still smell something.

XX Good Luck!
