Not necessarily names I would use, but Biblical names I heard A LOT when in Africa were:
boys: Abraham, Solomon, James, George, Lawerence, and Elijah
girls: Agnes, Faith, Margaret, Rachel (variety of spelling/pronunciations depending on region in Africa), Mary, and Naomi

I'm not african American but my name is Mesha pronounced "Meesha" it is in the book of genesis it means "my deliverence"
My son is Joshua meaning "Jehovah (God) is Salvation"
My Daughter is Amariah meaning " Jehovah has said"
My mother is Deborah, and My sisters are Joanna and Naomi, not sure the exact meanings.
My neice is Hannah meaning "loyalty"
My other neice is Abigail not sure what it means either obiously you figured out, my familiy tradition is naming our children from the bible : )

That is how we go our name
I would go with an name you both like
My suggestions is, pick out a names one like
I like may different names for different cultures
Picking a name is a hard thing to do.

I have a 2 yr old called Joseph. i also like Noah and Isaac but it would be unfair to have a Joseph and his technicolour dream coat and a Noahs Ark.
