Can I suggest that you have a look at Trip Advisor? It has customer reviews of several hotels in Manali. Sometimes these are posted by the hotels themselves, so take anything too positive with a pinch of salt! But often they are posted by real customers and they can be a helpful guide.

Try this site: iBtraveling.com I usually find something there. It also has priceline where you can bid on a hotel...use the budge price for a 3 star to get something nice. Works for me! Good luck!
