The literal answer: Assist him to throw the box in the river and help him to dig up some worms because everyone who's fished KNOWS live bait works better than anything.
The figurative answer: Stand there and watch him till he looks up, shake my head and say "You're gonna need a lot more jiggs and poppers than THAT to land a big one!"
