What would he gain by denying it? isn't the purpose of a terrorist act to get attention for a specific cause? how could he do that by denying it?

I think you hit the nail on the head when you say "what has he to gain by denying it?" Exactly! He gains more by accepting credit for it. That is how terrorists work. That was what we call in N. Ireland a spectacular. Had that been a strike by the IRA against the British Govt they would have been shouting about it from the roof tops.

So since than he has contradicted that statement both on audio and video on numerous occasions..Why the question?
In reference to your additional details could your mind imagine the Taliban realized they were just about to loose power so they contacted Osama and said deny every thing
or find a hole in Pakistan ( OH Jesus Osama the Americans aren't Russian!)

Because he knew Elvis did it and The King would get mad and sic the aliens on him if he claimed credit?
He also later decided to claim credit and went into hiding. Maybe he cut a deal with Elvis.
Come back to the real world. The Bush govt couldn't even keep Scooter Libby from a guilty verdict- do you really believe they would be capable of pulling off 9/11?

He is using his right of expression.
Remains innocent unless proven guilty.
Till today it is just a one sided allegation. Some solid proof has yet to come.
Till then he is not guilty unless he either admits it himself or proved guilty with enough evidence.

Could it possibly be that he is right but it does not serve our geopolitical aims to admit that much?
